Our LWML group decided we wanted to get out into the community more this year. For several months we find an organization and go volunteer. This morning we went to Assistance League of Tulsa’s Operation School Bell and helped clothe children from public schools who were in need of some help with uniforms, shoes, jackets and other necessities to attend school and be able to concentrate on their studies. We didn’t preach or teach the Gospel message but we hope we showed the love and care that Jesus showed when He was among the people. Other workers at the site were interested in what church we were from and how we came to be there.
Think outside your church walls! Get out into the public arena so people wonder who you are and why you are doing what you are doing. It can open conversations and opportunities for you. If you go to lunch afterwards it’s even better!

When I was a young wife, just starting my career, living in a place far from my hometown and family, I was invited by a lady at my new church to attend an LWML meeting. This woman encouraged me to participate in LWML events and to serve in various roles. She gently prodded me to accept elected positions, always sharing with me her knowledge of LWML and her example of leadership and service to others. She saw in me a future leader, something that I couldn't see.
This friend was an amazing example of how to mentor, how to engage, encourage and equip someone, leading to enjoyment of all things LWML. Is there a young woman in your life who could benefit by your being willing to be a mentor to her?

Anytime is a good time for LWMLers to show appreciation for the Church Workers they know! Most importantly, pray for your Church Workers — their relationship with God, physical and emotional needs, family relationships, time management, good communication skills, boldness in sharing the Gospel, etc.! Other ways to encourage them would include supporting them professionally and personally, and listening to their ideas open-mindedly. Additionally, thank them publicly and privately; acknowledge anniversaries and special days (professional and personal); encourage them with notes, cards, emails, and the like. Above all, focus on their strengths, rather than their weaknesses. Try to see them in light of how they fit into God’s bigger picture. Love them as God loves them.

“Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:4-5
Often times, I wonder if I am serving the Lord the way He wants me to. It’s natural to expect good results of our hard work, but when it doesn’t happen it’s very easy to get discouraged and lost. However, the Lord reminds us that He will show us the way when things get tough. He will teach us to be more like Jesus. He will guide our steps to serve Him exactly the way He wants us to because He is our God and Savior. Trust Him and serve Him joyfully!

When I became the president of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League at my church, I had a lot of hopes, was very optimistic and had great expectations for my group. First, I hoped that women would show up at the meetings and socials. And secondly, that I would be able to keep them interested for an entire year.
I had hope and then found HOPE. I found it on the LWML website under Service > Group Resources. There it was, everything I needed for my group to be active in LWML. I even found a how-to manual called reSOURCEs that could help me for two whole years. I wasn’t alone. I found HOPE.
Now HOPE is in my heart and a very important part of my LWML life. Romans 5:5 says,
And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.
Go and find HOPE. You will not be disappointed.

Serve the Lord with gladness! Really? Serving usually means work or inconvenience or making compromises. Is it realistic to expect women to give of themselves like that … gladly??
By God’s grace, we do serve the Lord with gladness. We are ladies who are moved in love, living out the truth of 1 John 4:19: We love because He first loved us.
Be encouraged even when you don’t feel like serving, that in Him we are loved and are able to love others. Be equipped by daily studying His Word. Be engaged by participating in LWML events and activities. Enjoy being a ‘gladness-server’ of His love.

Did you ever receive a wonderful and generous gift from somebody and then put it away and never used it? That wouldn’t seem right, would it?
Have you received gifts from God that you have “put away” and aren’t using?
Let me ask you if you are good at sewing or good with kids, a good cook, a good singer or a good organizer? Do you have other skills that I haven’t mentioned? Are you using these gifts or are they parked away where nobody will ever see them?
Don’t keep those gifts hidden away! Use what God has given you to serve Him and to serve others.
