For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins (Romans 3:23â25).
Letâs face it. Mistakes happen. A deadline was missed. A message got lost. An email got spammed. A text had an unfortunate autocorrect. Sometimes mistakes are your fault and sometimes they are not â but they happen to everyone. Itâs how we respond to those mistakes that makes the difference. If you were in error, admit it, and try to make it right. Fix it if you can. Apologize. Start over.
As Christians, we know we make mistakes that fall short of Godâs glory all the time. But we also know that we have been saved by the grace of Jesus Christ. Jesusâ death on the cross took all our sins away. We have been washed clean by His blood and get to make a fresh start.
Leaders make mistakes. Followers make mistakes. We all make mistakes. But we are all forgiven through the saving blood of Jesus. That gives us the joy and strength to carry on and live each day to serve Him.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed (Deuteronomy 31:8).
Congratulations! After prayerful consideration, you have accepted a leadership position within your LWML district, zone, or local group. You have met up with your predecessor, and she has handed off her materials. Now is the time to open the binder and get started. On the first page, you see a beautiful image with these words â It is the Lord who goes before you (Deuteronomy 31:8). These are the words Moses spoke to Joshua when he was chosen to lead the Israelites back to the promised land. You will not be leading tens of thousands of people across the Jordan River, but you will be helping women share their love for Jesus with others. You have no need to be afraid. First and foremost, God will be with you. Secondly, you have a huge resource and support group in the other women of the LWML. Some are previous leaders, some are peers, but all are prayer warriors for you. Your work for the LWML will be blessed because you have faith that God is by your side, and you are seeking to serve Him.

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:13).
Leading a meeting sometimes feels like a daunting task, but there are directions to be found in Godâs Word.
As the meeting approaches, prepare your mind for action with prayer. Ask the Lord to lead you to what tasks are needed and to help others working with you to seek His guidance as well. Then be sober-minded, or disciplined, as arrangements are made and details handled. If you are prepared, you will lead with confidence. Give clear and concise directions and be available to answer questions if necessary. Finally, pray again. Pray for all participants â both those leading and those listening â that all may receive what God intends for them through this meeting.
When the meeting day arrives, set your hope fully on Godâs grace. Be confident that God will work through all those present to further His plan. Greet everyone with a smile and do your best. Godâs got this!Â

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
Leaders work hard making long-term energy investments for which they will not see an immediate return. It can be draining to be planting seeds with the hope that they will grow into something majestic. A church or organization does not become efficient or productive overnight, so a leader needs to be committed to each part of the journey.
Asking God for stamina and patience as we lead, appreciating the gifts and abilities of the women we are leading, and thanking God for His blessings will provide long-term benefits to everyone in the organization.

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness (Romans 12:3â8).
A leader is part of an organizational structure. The leadership role is not a more important or more integral role than anyone else plays. It is so important to recognize that a leader isnât above anyone else, but works beside the rest of the group to meet everyoneâs goals.
The system operates efficiently when everyone is using their God-given gifts to fulfill their role. Your job as a leader is to equip and empower women to bring more and more of their gifts to bear on their position â and, by doing so, you are leading more diligently.

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves (Philippians 2:3).
The key to biblical leadership lies in keeping our eyes on the goal. The goal is to honor and worship God by serving others. The only way we are going to be able to do that correctly is if we value people the way Jesus did.
The role of a leader is full of snares: self-glorification, posturing, greediness, empty ambition, etc. Consciously choosing to enhance othersâ God-given skills and abilities as we lead is the better way to give God the glory.

Confidence in Christian leadership is being grounded in the Word.
Better is the little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous (Psalm 37:16â17).
Godly leadership is grounded in righteousness, and righteousness is its own reward. With God's help, we must seek and choose His path when making decisions for His glory as we lead. Sometimes it might feel like our leadership skills would be more appreciated in another venue, but we must trust that the Lord will uphold us in our work and sacrifice.
