Love Reaching Out to Others: The Human Care Department
- Check out the Gifts from the Heart for the Peoria convention and find other resources from the Human Care Committee about extending yourself and reaching out to others.
- You'll also want to check out the link to the young women page (under Resources) where you'll find the most recent issue of Impressions. This quarterly newsletter is a way to reach out to ALL young women and introduce them to service through the LWML. Consider printing a copy and sharing it with young women.
- What about teenagers? God has a purpose and a plan for them and He’s given them power through the Holy Spirit. Check out the 'slider' here on the home page to see the new look and theme used by the Teen Task Force — Teens: Empowered for Impact. You can reach out to teens and assist them in affirming their relationship with God by developing a one-on-one relationship or by starting a Friends Into Serving Him® group.
May you continue to be nourished by the love of Jesus for you!

Week of November 21 - The Simple Act of Witnessing our Faith
In 1 Peter 3:15a we are told: “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.”
In order to better prepare us to witness about the hope we have in Jesus, LWML developed Faith Talk® (available in the LWML Store, order #14995). This DVD-based workshop now comes with a newly designed, user-friendly Leader’s Guide. Included in each kit, the Leader’s Guide is also available in the Sharing the Gospel section of the website, as a free, downloadable resource for all who already own Faith Talk®.
May the goal that each woman be compelled to share the Gospel, pray for and recognize opportunities to do so, and then confidently live and speak her faith be realized as you use this new resource.

Week of November 8 - Fall Back
Did you remember to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night? Or were you early for worship or Bible class on Sunday morning? For most of our country this past Sunday was a return to Standard (non-daylight savings) Time; to help us remember how to change clocks, there is the saying, “Spring Forward, Fall Back.”
Let’s apply this to my daily walk with the Lord. How often do I “spring forward” with the items on my “to do” list? Soon my schedule, my time is filled with many things! My life is quickly filled with things that I run off to do without spending time with God. So I “spring forward” without His direction and guidance. And then wonder, what is going wrong with my day. Why are there not enough hours to get everything done?
All too often when that happens, I need to “fall back” into the loving arms of my Savior. His grace, mercy and forgiveness are there for me, for you. His arms that were nailed open on the cross of Calvary are extended open to take me in as I “fall back” on Him who loves me. I need to “fall back” and use the time He has given me to be nurtured by the One who speaks to me through the Word. When I “fall back” and use that time, I find that the day goes much better, and then there is amazingly time for all the things that still clamor for my attention.
Spend time in His Word, receive His direction for your day, see what gems of truth He has for you as you open the Bible.

Week of November 1 - Listen! Is God Calling You?
Could God be calling you or someone you know to serve in Slovakia over the next three months? Check out this emergency request from LCMS World Missions. Lutheran Women in Mission don’t just send; they go! Please pray for this mission outreach in the 80% unchurched country of Slovakia.
LCMS World Mission is in need of two short-term missionaries to serve in Kosice, Slovakia starting immediately. You will spend your time teaching English at a local Lutheran high school. This will include English grammar, conversation and literature classes. Leading extra-curricular clubs after school is also a possible responsibility. You will have a full teaching load, so be prepared to spend time making lesson plans and grading homework. Also be prepared for many opportunities to build relationships with youth and experience the joy of sharing your faith with them! Please consider serving in this very important way.
For more information go to www.lcmsworldmission.org/serve and search for Slovakia-Short-term. Please contact mission.teams@lcms.org or call 314-996-1311.
